And Then It Ate Itself: Carrie Fonder
Opening: Saturday July 9, 6 - 9 pm

Exhibition Dates: July 9 to August 6

Good Children Gallery is excited to present And Then It Ate Itself, a new installation by Carrie Fonder featuring sound design by Alma Laprida. Please join us for the opening Saturday, July 8 from 6pm to 9pm. The exhibition will be on view through August 6th, 2023.

In this new installation Fonder invokes an end game of insulation foam, party streamers, failed geodesic domes parts, and a capricious disembodied deity--with sound by Alma Laprida.

Fonder embraces the ridiculous in her work to function as a mirror to the contemporary moment as well as a release from it. She uses humor as a strategy through which she investigates both material and concept. An aesthetic of montage and collage drives the work, with fracture and repetition as driving functions. As contexts change, so do meanings; associations are fast, free, and malleable. The "real" becomes digital, and increasingly digital constructs become all too real.

Carrie Fonder earned her MFA in sculpture at Cranbrook Academy of Art and her BFA in sculpture at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. She is a Fulbright Nehru Award recipient and is currently a member of Good Children Gallery in New Orleans, Louisiana. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally from Detroit to New Delhi. Fonder is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of West Florida.
