Swam to the Moon: Gabrielle Ledet

Opening: Saturday March 13, 12 - 9 pm
Exhibition Dates: March 13 - April 4

GC is excited to announce, Swam to the Moon, a solo exhibition by new gallery member Gabrielle Ledet. Ledet's show includes new paintings and the permiere of A Slice Of Rumcake Part 1 a short film about her visit to Africa in 2020.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Gabrielle Ledet is a multi-media artist whose work encompasses sculpture, animation, immersive installation, performance, audio/sound, drawing, painting, puppetry and wearable art. Her colorful, immersive animations are both haunting and bright. They are accompanied by ambient soundscapes created by using sampled recordings of real time and offhand conversations. Often these conversations are recording of her grandparents speaking about spirituality and telling stories about the past times. Ledet is deeply inspired by the spirit of New Orleans. Her work explores black womanhood, family and most importantly: love, either romantically or eternally.

Check out more of her work on Instagram and her website.
