Dan Tague: Does Your Dogma Bite

Opening: Saturday November 10, 6 - 10 pm
Exhibition Dates: November 10 - December 2

"Picasso once quipped that painting is just another way of keeping a journal. Often I get an irresistible urge to record memories of seemingly little significance from random places. I guess it’s a fear of loosing sight of the small moments that provide the context for life’s great hurdles and joys. The idea is that just as I try to remember the emotion, the encounter, and the reason I scribbled this fleeting moment done. I want the viewer to spend time decoding the words and their relation to the subtle aesthetic guidance offered by the composition, materials, handling of the mediums and in the case of the drawings the typed subtext. Hopefully a new meaningful memory emerges from the meditation on this work, as each viewer will take something different away from the encounter. I see this body of work as a place where facts and conjecture make out, the seedlings for poetry or dogma." -Dan Tague
