In Search of Martin Klein: Joseph Wilcox

"Let me start by saying this: I’m not a conspiracy theorist. Not that I don’t believe in conspiracies, because I do. But I’m not your run of the mill "gay frogs," "the powers that be," "jet fuel can’t melt steel beams" kind of nut job. And I could sit here listing the conspiracies from our recent history that have effectively been proven true in order to challenge your predisposition to dismiss conspiracy theories. But that’s something a conspiracy theorist would do, and I’m not one.

Furthermore, the term "conspiracy theory" wasn’t even used in vernacular until the mid-60s, when the CIA started pushing it into the public sphere to discredit JFK assassination theories that were beginning to gain momentum. But sorry, I’m getting off track. And that’s not what this is about. This is about a person named Martin Klein.

I discovered Klein while browsing a web forum a few years back. He caught my attention with a series of posts he made with ideas I had not seen anywhere else; most notably a video explaining how the CIA had infiltrated the punk scene in the 80s. In an abrupt final post, he included a cryptic letter that he received from a company called True Picture America. I’ve come to the conclusion that this letter was a warning.

The film, In Search of Martin Klein, chronicles how radical leftist politics, 2pac, counterculture arts, a blockbuster movie from 1985, punk rock, Putin’s personal advisor, and a peculiar symbol are all woven together to tell the story of this mysterious individual. Accompanying the film are photographs, objects, and documents serving as evidence from my path of discovery into who Martin Klein was and who he was not." -J.W.
