An escape, a vacation, a proclamation: a positive, a negative.
A society that condemns and shrugs, people being people being in and out of control.
Burnt remnants and shiny plastic.
Pretty picture, unknown meanings.
Warnings, celebrations.

Recital is a series which combines sculpture and printmaking to depict the history and transformation of an object. The print component presents what the objects were: former dance costumes found in the attic after my father's death. The sculptural form personifies the reclamation of the events and memories previously held inside the dance costume by capturing the unsettling feelings and qualities present in the sexualization of toddlers and young girls in pageants and dance competitions.
